Idol Predictions: Disco Night for the Top 7!

Break out the polyester, strobe lights and bell bottoms! It's DISCO NIGHT on American Idol! Yes, the Idol stage is going to turn into our very own Studio 57! I mean, 54! (Just can't seem to let that one go.)

Okay, prediction time! This week is going to be crucial for our Idols because TWO will be let go tomorrow night . . . (the horror!) Why do I feel like I need to start praying for my little Iraheta right now? But, I'm going to keep the faith, because I think our rocker girl (and I ain't talkin' about Lil) is going to turn into a disco diva!

There has been much blog/online speculation for this week, and I just don't know what to believe. So I have compiled my own short list, taken from what I believe to be the most accurate guesses, as well as some of my own humble thoughts. Most of these, I'm only going to give one song, and I will place my rating of how sure I am next to it, with 10 being pretty darn positive. Here goes nothin': (again, orange = links to click on).

Lil: "Last Dance" (10) (I'm feeling bold.)
Anoopie: "We Are Family" (8)
Danny: "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" (8) or "Knock on Wood" (7) (Hopefully, it's the second one!)
Allison: "Don't Leave Me This Way" (8) or "Dancing Queen" (8) (Let me just make it clear that much like Anthony Bourdain, I too have a disdain for Abba. [Nevermind Mr. Bourdain's American Idol reference here, of course.] But I have a feeling, I might be singing a different tune if my Allison "rocks" it out! Both of these choices would be great!)
Matt: "September" (6) or "Rock With You" (7)
Adam: "Stayin' Alive" (7) (Why not give him one of the most recognizable just to see how he can make it his own . . . suddenly, I'm more excited for Disco Night than I thought!)
So what do you guys think? Will tonight "Ring your bell"? I have mixed feelings, but I am excited to see these singers bring their "A" game (hopefully!), considering the pressure. Who do you think will be tonight's mentor? Not sure if we can beat last week's Quentin Tarantino, but there is speculation that it might be John Travolta. Hmmmm . . . .

Good and I laughed a little bit but good one.
I see from bottom to top:

    7. Anoop with "YMCA" or "Rock The Boat"
    6. Kris with "Celebration"
    5. Matt with Rock The Boat
    4. Lil with 'I'm So Excited' or "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" or even "It's Raining Men

    3. Allison with "Celebration" or "Stayin' Alive" or even "Heart Of Glass"

    2. Danny with "That's The Way I Like It"
    1. Adam with "Funky Town" or "That's The Way I Like It"

It's not what I think they should sing but something they would pick their seleves. I am guessing!!!!!!!!! Of course.

As many a time as I fell off my platform shoes I always climbed right back into them. And bells...holy moly, I NEVER stopped wearing bells and thank goodness they are back in style so I don't look like that crazy old lady anymore.

Actually I think tonight will be a good one (crossing fingers). If kids get the concept of disco which is a mix funk and soul with a Latin type beat they should just make for an enjoyable evening of entertainment.

So get ready....and lets ROCK THE BOAT!

I am not totally sure of this, but I don't think anyone has accurately picked what Adam will perform anytime this season. He seems to have a knack for picking some less known, although highly reconizable songs...and fantastically making it better, in the way only he can do. It's anybodys guess...however, I am looking so forward to a wonderful show. I (secretly of course) love disco. haha. Important thing, is to VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!!!!!!!!!

  4. eyemightbeme4/21/2009

What? No Rick Astley? Maybe he's not disco??? Guess that shows how much I know about disco! I was hoping Danny or Kris or even Adam might sing "Never Gonna Give You Up" or Together Forever" or "It Would Take a Strong, Strong, Man". So, okay, I guess I could deal with one of them singing "Boogie Oogie Oogie" but I have visions of repeated performances of KC & The Sunshine Band or Bee Gees, Donna Summer or even Barry Manilow (gasp and choke):-)

  5. swingink4/21/2009

I'm guessing Adam would like to try a Bowie tune. Personally, I'd like to hear "Shining Star" or, if he slows the tempo, "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?"

  6. misfittoy4/21/2009

I agree with your choice for Lil
    Kris "Born to be alive"
Anoop "Fantasy" Earth wind and fire
Danny "Never gonna give you up" Rick Astley
    Allison "Don't Go" Yaz
    Matt Something Sylvester
    Adam "Relight my fire"

American Idol Inspirational Song Night: Crystal Bowersox Cries. I Finally Feel Something. (Recap)

Considering I kept busy on my computer all the while Idol played out tonight on my TV screen, only giving the occasional glance up to notice that Lee Dewyze got his hairs cut, Kara got her hairs styled in a flattering manner that I can't quite put my finger on as to why they were so flattering and Simon's buzz cut looked especially unflattering ... I guess you could say it was all one big unnoticeable snooze fest until Crystal "Mamasox" Bowersox took the stage. So really, all I care about commenting on is her for now.

Wicked Mic Stands and Wet Eyes: Now I don't know if Crystal got overly wrapped up in the spirit of today's date, but someone should have told her pot paraphernalia is not allowed on the Idol stage. Oh, I keed. I keed. Crystal's extraordinary mic stand was made from an old lamp with which she always used to perform in her pre-Idol days. Could that sentimentality be what brought on her sudden outburst of tears at the end of her emotional "…

It's a Crystal / Lee Finale ... And I'm Alright.

(Bye little, Casey.  Hey, we'll always have "Jealous Guy")
I'm alright
Nobody worry 'bout me
The end is now in sight
Will it be Crystal or that damn sexy Lee?

Yes, folks.  Don't worry about me.  I am still alive.  I just haven't been posting as regularly because I've been waiting to be moved again.  And if those hometown visits last night didn't get you a little misty eyed, well then may I suggest you check your pulse.

In what was probably the most predicted elimination, we said goodbye to that Cool Texan, Casey James, leaving us with the two most deserving contestants of season 9:  Crystal "Mamasox" Bowersox and Lee "You Can Mix My Paint Any Ol' Time" DeWyze.  And while I have always thought Mamasox would wind up with the win, I find myself pulling for Lee.  But (unlike last season), I can honestly say that I'm alright with either.  (And I think most people would agree.)

Lee's hometown visit ... well, let's just …

American Idol Top 9 Perform: Casey James, BagPipes and Didgeridoos Make For One Good Night! (Recap)

Well hot dog, hot dog, hot diggity dog, folks, do we finally have a competition on our hands?  Maybe I am just a little excited about my tax refund or am perhaps silly over this ga-or-geous weather we are having, but dare I say, that in last night's Idol, I saw shades of Idol season 8!?!  Yes, from the humorous moments (one word: bagpipe) to some mad awesome vocals (two words: Casey James), I finally recognized a competitive momentum taking place, which left no alternative but to bring me to a rolling boil of excitement!

I will break it down with the highlights of the night:

These Intro Packages Are Workin' For Me!:  Question for you, Mr. Idol Producer:  Why couldn't we have used these endearing little intro packages wherein Idols comment on other Idols, showing us the viewer some real personality, earlier?  I mean, how much did I love learning that Lee Dewyze and Andrew Garcia have been in a bro-mance since Hollywood Week?!  It brought me back to the big bro/lil sis days o…
